Opening to Melbourne in early 2020 is Fortress Melbourne, a massive gaming and esports venue that’s ready to take the city by storm.
Placed inside Emporium Melbourne, the whole place will take up 2,700 square metres and include an esports arena, several bars, a restaurant, training facility for teams, casual gaming areas, streaming centres and much more. It’s a lot.
Laying out the dot points it can be hard to wrap your head around the whole thing, but Fortress Melbourne recently uploaded a digital walkthrough video of what the venue is supposed to look like and it’s very impressive.
Ashley, Ciaran and I discussed our thoughts on the venue on Arcade Couch recently and you can find that clip below.
The description on the Fortress Melbourne website is as follows:
“The ultimate venue for gaming enthusiasts and esports fanatics will be spread across two gigantic floors in the middle of the CBD.
Fortress will have a purpose-built esports arena, 160 top of the range esports-ready gaming PCs, a dedicated LAN lounge and a high performance esports bootcamp room. 10+ screens across both floors broadcasting live tournaments and international playoffs year round. Everything primed for the ultimate esports experience!
If you’re not into esports, fear not! The huge basement hosts a gamer friendly tavern, casual console gaming suites, fireside hearth and designated RPG area. We’ve also partnered with your favourite publishers to throw regular community events where you can hang out with people who love games as much as you.”
I’m very keen to see Fortress Melbourne open in the new year, are you? Let us know in the comments below.
