Gears of War Movie Could Be Directed by ‘Bullet Train’s’ David Leitch

A movie based on Gears of War is moving forward with David Leitch, the director behind The Fall Guy, Bullet Train and Atomic Blonde, in talks to take on the project.

The co-writer of Dune and Dune: Part Two, as well as Doctor Strange, is also reportedly working on the script for the adaptation. Jon Spaihts is reportedly working alone, even though his most successful work has been as a co-partner. Those previous cases were with Denis Villeneuve and Scott Derrickson. The Hollywood Reporter is behind the reporting on all of the above.

Netflix picked up the rights to the long-running video game series in 2022. The series follows different protagonists at different times, but it’s set on an Earth-like world of Sera, and humanity’s efforts to fight off the Locust Horde and save themselves from extinction.
