Sony and Santa Monica Studio are celebrating the success of God of War Ragnarok in both critical acclaim and sales this week with the announcement that the game has sold 5.1m copies in its first week.

Hermen Hulst shared the news on Twitter earlier this week. 5.1m copies makes God of War Ragnarok the fast-selling first-party game from Sony and also marks a franchise record for God of War. 

I gave God of War a 10 in my review, writing: 

“God of War Ragnarok is one of the most incredible action-adventure games of all time. It also surpasses the previous game in every possible way by telling a heartfelt, human story surrounded by some of the most breathtaking action and battles in any video game I’ve played.”
