If you have a PSVR headset and had plans to play it with your PS5 on launch day, I have some bad news — you probably won’t be.

We only just received instructions today how to receive the camera adaptor necessary to use the PlayStation 4 camera on the PS5 — which is needed to play PSVR games — but that process is seemingly causing problems for Sony.

Here’s what you need to do to receive the adaptor/dongle necessary to use the PS4 camera on your PS5.

  1. Head to:
    https://camera-adaptor.support.playstation.com/

  2. It’ll ask for you PSVR breakout box serial number which you can find on the back of your break-out box (as seen below)

  3. Hopefully, you get an a-ok message

If you’re like me, however, the website will tell you you’re serial code is incorrect and you’ll have to spend over an hour waiting to have a Sony helpline process your adaptor.

When I called 130 137 669 to get help in processing my adaptor I expect to be a very rare case, but the person on the other end of the line told me that they had been receiving a lot of calls today about the PlayStation 4 Camera adaptor.

The Sony helpline person processed my information before telling me to keep an eye on the PlayStation website, and the PlayStation blog as they may be working on a fix for the service and may be asking people, like myself, who’s serial numbers weren’t working, to try and redeem the adapter again.

Hopefully, this gets sorted ASAP as I know the PSVR hardcore may want to play with their headset on PS5 launch week and see if it offers any improved load times to PSVR games.

Have you had success putting through your serial number and receiving your PS4 camera adaptor? Let me know in the comment section below.
