If you’ve picked up a Nintendo Switch 2 on launch day and also Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, you’re going to discover there are some mini-games you love and others that drive you insane. There also could be some mini-games you can’t complete because you don’t have a Pro Controller or a 4K television, as some of the mini-games require you to play in specific ways or with particular accessories. The different stages are locked behind coins, which could lock you out of some games if you’re not good at other ones or can’t even complete them. Fortunately, there’s a cheeky way around this.
There’s bound to be much discussion about whether Welcome Tour is “deserving of its entry cost,” but the choice to also need to spend more money on optional accessories to 100% the game isn’t going to help. However, there is a way to obtain the coins for games you can’t play without completing them, and then use this same method on any games you find too challenging or simply don’t like.
The Cheat Code
Standing in front of one of the game attendants, you need to press the Y Button in a specific code:
Quick Press, Quick Press, Quick Press,
Long Press, Long Press, Long Press,
Quick Press, Quick Press, Quick Press.
So that’s three short taps, three where you hold the button down for two seconds, and then another three short taps.
If you do this, the attendants will award you the medals for completing the mini-game. They do, however, show up as silver on your completion chart, so you can’t say you ‘officially’ got all the medals in the game. However, it does allow you to unlock any other games that require a specific number of medals.
You can also use this on any of the tech demos if you’d like to earn the medal from them. You can’t use this on the quizzes; however, you have to do it properly.
