It was announced a couple of months ago that DreamWorks Animation’s trilogy of How To Train Your Dragon films would be getting the live-action treatment, and now we know who will be playing Hiccup and Astrid in the film.

As reported by Deadline, Mason Thames has been cast as Hiccup and Nico Parker as Astrid in the upcoming film, which is currently pencilled in for a March 14th, 2025, release date.

Mason Thames would be most known for playing Finney in 2021’s excellent The Black Phone, while Nico Parker most recently grabbed audience hearts with her performance as Sarah in The Last of Us. 

Director of all three animated How to Train Your Dragon films, Dean DeBlois, is returning to direct the live-action film.
