Hoyts has announced an expansion of its partnership with CJ 4DPLEX, confirming 12 new SCREENX screens will open across Australia and New Zealand over the next two years.

If you don’t know, SCREENX is a 270-degree wraparound screen setup that aims to draw you even more into the screen by placing two angled screens off to each side of the main cinema screens.

The rollout will begin with HOYTS Broadway in Sydney on July 30th, launching alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is also the first Hollywood film to be produced as part of the new “Shot for SCREENX” initiative.

Damian Keogh, HOYTS Group President and CEO, said the strong response to the format had driven the decision to expand.

“The response to SCREENX from audiences across Australia has been strong, and we look forward to expanding this premium experience across our network. Immersive cinema is the future of moviegoing, and these 12 new auditoriums are another step towards bringing that experience to more guests.”
