Imprint Films Reveals September 2026 Imprint Asia Blu-ray Releases

Imprint Films has revealed its September 2026 Imprint Asia lineup, with two Japanese films joining the collection as strictly limited-edition Blu-ray releases.

Headlining the month is Chushingura: The Loyal 47 Ronin, which will receive its worldwide Blu-ray debut, alongside Toshiharu Ikeda’s folk-horror thriller Cursed Village in Yudono Mountains.

Chushingura: The Loyal 47 Ronin (1958)

The most successful film of 1958 in Japan was Chushingura: The Loyal 47 Ronin, a sprawling epic from director Kunio Watanabe following the true story of a group of samurai warriors in the early 1700s.

After lord Asano Naganori assaults court official Kira Yoshinaka, he is forced to commit seppuku (suicide). His samurai warriors are left without a leader and carefully plan their revenge on Yoshinaka, building to a daring assault on his estate.

Starring Kazuo Hasegawa (An Actor’s Revenge), Shintaro Katsu (The Tale of Zatoichi), Koji Tsuruta (Big Time Gambling Boss), Raizo Ichikawa (The Betrayal), Yataro Kurokawa (Gate of Hell), and Michiyo Kogure (Drunken Angel), this is a must-see samurai legend, produced by Masaichi Nagata (Ugetsu).

Starring Toshiyuki Nagashima (Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters), Eiko Nagashima (Gonin), Nobuko Sendo (The Makioka Sisters), and Rie Nakagawa (Lovers Are Wet), Cursed Village in Yudono Mountains is a cinematic experience like no other, filled with twisted visuals that must be seen to be believed.
