Kingdom Hearts Anime Series Is Officially Coming to Disney+
Disney has officially announced a Kingdom Hearts anime series for Disney+
Disney has officially greenlit the first original Kingdom Hearts television series, with an anime based on the popular video game franchise coming to Disney+.
Announced during D23, Kingdom Hearts is currently a working title and is being developed in partnership with series creator Tetsuya Nomura and the creative team at Square Enix.
Rather than directly adapting one of the games, the animated series will tell a brand-new story within the Kingdom Hearts universe while featuring characters familiar to franchise fans.
“There’s something really exciting about taking a world fans have spent years exploring through the games and bringing it to life in a completely new way,” Disney Kids & Family president Ayo Davis said.
The anime announcement also follows the reveal that Kingdom Hearts IV will launch in late 2027, with a new D23 trailer confirming a Disney- and Pixar-inspired world from Coco.
No other details on the series have been announced so far.
