Wizards of the Coast has shown off its upcoming ‘Universe Beyond’ Magic: The Gathering set, which is a crossover with Star Trek.

This Universes Beyond collaboration is a celebration of Star Trek’s 60th birthday, and will bring popular characters, starships and moments from the series’ history to MTG. The first wave of preview cards has shown iconic captains James T. Kirk and Kathryn Janeway.

The set will see several new mechanic keywords introduced to tie MTG more closely to the world of Star Trek. ‘Assimilate’ lets you put a creature card under the battlefield, and it becomes a Borg artifact creature; ‘Face A Dilemma’ sees you choose between two abilities; ‘Federation’ looks for the number of non-Borg creatures a player controls before doing certain effects, and then returning are ‘Spacecraft’ and ‘Station ‘, which see spacecraft start as an artifact and charge it up.

The set will include all the expected assortments of Play and Collector Boosters, as well as Commander decks, Scene boxes, and Bundles, and will also include autograph ‘headliner cards’ signed by the actors in the Collector Boosters — a total of 250 copies of each signed card.

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek releases on November 13 2026, with prerelease events beginning on November 6. Let me know in the comment section below if you’re looking forward to this new Universe Beyond set.
