In a move that shouldn’t be too shocking, Disney is pushing the release date of both the upcoming Avengers movies back.
If you haven’t been keeping up, Avengers: Doomsday was set to release on May 1st, 2026, which has always seemed too early for a film that is currently filming. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, was also supposed to release just one year later, on May 7th, 2027. The updated release dates are now December 18, 2026, and December 17, 2027, respectively.
These release dates, which were shared with Deadline, make a lot more sense from the studio’s point of view to have the right amount of time to complete the films. Especially given how big the special effects are bound to be, and how often they can, and have been rushed in the past, to an adverse impact on the film, and those working on the special effects. But the holiday release time is also one of the bigger spectacles. It will work, especially for Avengers: Doomsday, which is going to have a lot riding on it as it looks to re-ignite the Marvel Cinematic Universe world.
