The reviews for Marvel’s Wolverine have dropped this morning, and it’s been an interesting one!
As a follow-up to Insomniac Games’ stellar work in the Marvel universe, which has had such huge success with their Marvel’s Spider-Man games, Marvel’s Wolverine has generated a lot of excitement as a major end-of-year release for PlayStation/Sony. Reviews have been mixed overall, from both the Koalaty Critics and the wider international base. We’ve got a wide range between a 10 and a 7 in the scores below, which, as weird as it is to say, is low for a big PlayStation release; it is lower than you’d generally expect.
Although the narrative has some different opinions because it doesn’t solely focus on the actual X-Men team you’d expect to see in an X-Men/Wolverine game, the majority of the criticism against Marvel’s Wolverine seems to come from the combat. From comments calling it a bit too much of a button masher, to plenty mentioning it wears out its welcome by the end by being too repetitive, it appears Wolverine’s claws, and how fun they are to wield, vary depending on the user.
Marvel’s Wolverine will release on 15 Sep 2026 for PlayStation 5.

Implulse Gamer gives it the highest score, calling it a must-play action game that lives up to the Wolverine world. In contrast, Reloader has the lowest score from the Koalaty Critics, who note that although they enjoy the narrative, the lack of combat depth makes the moment-to-moment gameplay hard to keep engaging.
