The Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 generation only started yesterday, but it has been nearly six years. And Microsoft still plans to release a new Xbox console in 2027.
Over on Windows Central, Jez Corden shared that they have learned the next Xbox console will be essentially a full Windows PC and is planned for release in late 2027. This information has been backed up by the AMD CEO speaking about chipsets, who confirmed that the Steam Machine is set to launch sometime early in 2026 and that they’re working with Microsoft to launch the next Xbox in 2027.
On the PlayStation front, there isn’t much in regard to either news or rumours circulating around their next console, although we know they’re working on it, of course. And it is shocking to hear that a new console could be launching from both companies as early as 2027, which, in case you haven’t quite flicked over to 2026 mode yet, is, in fact, next year.
