There are some film festival hits coming to Australian cinemas this week, alongside some big movies we’ve been looking forward to for a while.
In terms of festival hits, there’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasam, as well as I Want Your Sex, and Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut in The Chronology of Water. And then with some more blockbuster studio efforts, Jason Statham hits the big screen again in Mutiny, there’s a new Indisious: Out of the Further, and Super Troopers is back with their third film.
Here are all the new films coming to Australian cinemas in August 2026.
AUGUST 6
Holy Days
A lost boy in search of heaven, three odd nuns on a mission, a car powered by God (and stolen money). This is a road trip like no other. A comedic near-tragedy that just keeps going South.
Ice Cream Man
An idyllic summer town descends into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results.
