The second expansion for Control is releasing in just a couple of months and the brand new trailer features Alan Wake. 

Control AWE was announced as the second expansion shortly after the launch of the game and eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot what looked like Alan Wake in the image. 

AWE stands for ‘Altered World Event,’ but it could also be a double-entendre and stand for ‘Alan Wake Expansion.’

The brand new trailer for the expansion does feature the voice of Alan Wake as well as a glimpse of the bearded writer. 

AWE will send Director Jesse Faden down the halls of the Investigations Sector as she attempts to free it from the clutches of a creature that’s been haunting the halls for some time. To do this, she’ll need to investigate several Altered World Events, including the ones that went down at Bright Falls with Alan Wake. 

Basically, Control is re-writing Alan Wake’s story to have the events of that game be the cause of an Object of Power.

You’ll also get a brand new power called Surge in the expansion. It’s a sticky grenade launcher which can place up to four explosives at once and remotely detonate them. 

There will also be a brand new enemy type called the ‘Hiss Airborne Ranger’ which attacks from the air with a shotgun.
