After leaking a week ahead of PlayStation’s State of Play early this morning, Kingdom Hearts III’s Re: Mind DLC has been officially revealed with a trailer featuring tantalising gameplay, story beats, characters and a release date of January 23rd, 2020.
The Re: Mind DLC will take place at the end of Kingdom Hearts III and yet also take you back to events happening before the end of the game. Let’s look at the official DLC description for more:
“Determined to rescue Kairi, Sora travels to the Keyblade Graveyard a short time before the final battle was to take place. Lacking a corporeal form, he traces the hearts of the seven guardians of light. Through experiencing their personal battles firsthand, Sora is about to discover truths that he has never before imagined.”

As seen in the trailer you’ll be diving into the hearts of The Guardians of Light as Sora and seeing things from their point of view. Most importantly this includes Kairi who got shafted hard in Kingdom Hearts III.
You’ll also see Riku meet up with at least some of the Final Fantasy characters that were completely absent in the main game including Yuffie and Squall and Aerith.
As well as the story in Re: Mind the DLC will come with a ‘Limitcut episode’ and 13 boss battles against Organization XIII that is harder than originally (much like Final Mix content in previous KH games.) A Secret Episode will also be included, but we don’t know what that will be about… it’s a secret. A ‘Slideshow Feature’ will be added that is basically an impressive photo mode and also a ‘Date getting feature’ and ‘Premium Menu’ that lets you make the game really easy or really hard with lots of customizable restrictions.
The Re: Mind DLC will cost $44.95 AUD, but there’s also a $59.95 version that includes the ‘Kingdom Hearts Orchestra – World of Tres Concert Video.
Both price points are obviously quite high for DLC and it’s yet to be determined just how substantially the Re: Mind DLC will be, so it’s hard to judge.
It was also announced that a free update is coming to Kingdom Hearts III (version 1.07) that will add the Oathkeeper and Oblivion Keyblades from previous games and a new Form for Sora.
