Microsoft Has Acquired 'Wasteland 2' & 'Fallout: New Vegas' Developers
by Dylan Blight
Microsoft has acquired two more studios as it continues its momentum from E3 this year in building up its Xbox Family.
Announced at X018 today, Microsoft has acquired Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment.
Obsidian is most prominently known for their work on Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: The Stick of Truth and Pillars of Eternity, which were all well received RPG's in their own regard.
InXile is known for their release of Wasteland 2 after a huge and successful Kickstarter and is planning to release Wasteland 3 in the future. They also recently released Bards Tale IV.
Microsoft in their blog post announcement makes sure to clarify that the teams, although similar, will remain separate and independent.
They will continue to operate autonomously with their unique talents, IP and expertise. As part of Microsoft Studios, Obsidian and inXile will have the support and freedom to fully realize their creative ambitions on both existing franchises and new RPG projects.
This brings Microsofts Studio's up to 13 strong as we move towards the next console generation which is surely where we'll see these acquisitions pay off.
