'PlayStation Classic' A PS-Mini Announced For December With 20 Games
by Dylan Blight
PlayStation this afternoon has announced they are producing their own mini-console for release on December 3rd, although the word mini is nowhere to be seen in describing the product for obvious reasons.
The PlayStation Classic will come with 20 pre-installed games, of which only 5 have been announced so far.
The games announced so far are:
Final Fantasy VII
R4 RIDGE RACER TYPE 4
The RRP for the PlayStation Classic is $149.99 AUD, which is slightly more expensive than the NES Mini released by Nintendo last year.
Included with the console will be two original PlayStation controllers, which means games like Ape Escape will be out for this console because that game needs the analog sticks from the DualShock.
You’ll be able to plug the console straight into an HDMI slot for quick play and even press the disc open button to change the virtual game discs.
The current lineup of games show an effort to feature big single-player experiences from the PS1 era, but also multiplayer games to make use of the two controllers.
It’s also worth mentioning that the press release says ‘will launch in limited quantities December 3 2018,’ so maybe don’t hold your breath for a less scalper friendly release than the NES Mini.
Watch the announcement trailer below and let us know in the comments what games you’d like included to make you want to purchase the PlayStation Classic.
