Point me towards the person who could have predicted that SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom would be getting a remaster. They don't exist? Yeah, I didn't think so.

When THQ Nordic revealed they'd be announcing three games over three days, this wasn't on anyone's mind — well, I doubt it.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom released on PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, PC and even the GBA in 2003. I played it on PS2. I don't remember much of the game at all, sorry. I remember annoying controls and a fun story because I liked the SpongeBob series.

Well if you don't remember even any of that, or haven't played the game before — you're in luck! SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

The reveal trailer shows no gameplay so there isn't much to go off, but I'd assume we see more during E3 next week.

The trailer's description does hint at a multiplayer mode, which could be interesting. SpongeBob Battle Royale incoming!

"Are you ready, kids? The cult classic is back, faithfully remade in spongetastic splendor! Play as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy and show the evil Plankton that crime pays even less than Mr. Krabs. Want to save Bikini Bottom from lots of rampant robots? Of course you do! Want to underpants bungee jump? Why wouldn't you! Want to join forces in a brand new multiplayer mode? The battle is on!"

Purple Lamp, a small team from Austria is developing the remaster/remake. They previously released The Guild 3 on PC last year, which was also published by THQ Nordic.
