Sony and Naughty Dog have announced that The Last of Us Part II is delayed with no new release date currently in sight. This is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, however, and not because the team needed more time to finish the game. In fact, Naughty Dog on Twitter said the game is finishing up.

“We’re nearly done with the developer of The Last of Us Part II. We are in the midst of fixing our final bugs. However, even with us finishing the game we were faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn’t launch The Last of Us Part II to our satisfaction. We want to make sure everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part II around the same time, ensuring that we’re doing everything to preserve the best experience for everyone. This meant delaying the game until such a time where we can solve these logistic issues.”

The Last of Us Part II wasn’t the only game delayed for PlayStation today either as Iron Man VR which was slated to release on May 15th has also been delayed indefinitely.

With no rough new release date given it’s sure to upset fans, but its unfortunately something that can’t be helped at the moment and I’m sure none of you would want to get the game spoiled because another country got it two weeks earlier than you. For instance, in Australia right now we have access to Final Fantasy VII Remake roughly two weeks earlier than the rest of the world.

If you’d like to still get excited for The Last of Us, we started a replay segment on our PlayStation podcast, Platinum Explosion this week discussing the game as we play it over the next six weeks. You are free to blame us for the delay if it helps make you feel better.
