One of the big questions about the Nintendo Switch 2 and the ability to turn the new Joy-Cons into mouse mode has been: Can I just use a real mouse instead? And it seems the answer is yes.
In a recent live stream on Koei Tecmo’s YouTube page, producer Michi Ryu is playing the upcoming Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening CE on the Nintendo Switch 2 and using the Joy-Cons in mouse mode. However, near the end of the gameplay showcase, Ryu plugs in a standard USB mouse to the Nintendo Switch 2 to showcase how easy it is to use on the console and with their game.
This is exciting, but it does open up several questions that we might not have answered for another few weeks when the console is released. Namely, is this simply something you can expect any Joy-Con mouse-mode game to do, or is USB mouse support going to be on a game-by-game basis?
