Disney+ has released a new trailer and revealed the premiere fate for the upcoming Percy Jackson and The Olympians series.

Based on the best-selling book series by Rick Riordan, the series follows the story of 12-year-old Percy Jackson, who discovers he is a demigod. Just as he’s coming to terms with life, Zeus then accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.

Previously the book series had been adapted into two films, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013), both of which stared Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson and Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase.

Unlike the movie series, Disney has stated that the team of this series worked closely with Rick Riordan to bring his books to life in a way that stays true to his vision. He is even involved creatively in the series as both an executive producer and co-wrote some episodes.

Check out the latest trailer for the series below, which reveals it’ll debut with a two-episode premiere on December 20.

The series stars Walker Scobell (“Percy Jackson”), Leah Sava Jeffries (“Annabeth Chase”), Aryan Simhadri (“Grover Underwood”) and features notable guest stars Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hermes”), Megan Mullally (“Alecto” aka “Mrs. Dodds”), Toby Stephens (“Poseidon”), Virginia Kull (“Sally Jackson”), Jason Mantzoukas (“Dionysus” aka “Mr. D”), Jay Duplass (“Hades”), Glynn Turman (“Chiron” aka “Mr. Brunner”), the late Lance Reddick (“Zeus”), Adam Copeland (“Ares”), Charlie Bushnell (“Luke Castellan”), Dior Goodjohn (“Clarisse La Rue”), Jessica Parker Kennedy (“Medusa”), Olivea Morton (“Nancy Bobofit”), Suzanne Cryer (“Echidna”), Timm Sharp (“Gabe Ugliano”), and Timothy Omundson (“Hephaestus”).
