On their Youtube channel, tonight PlayStation has revealed a closer look at the PlayStation 5 console. In the video, they highlight each of the consoles ports, the fact it’s very quiet and a few other tidbits.
Here are some highlights from the video
-
The front of the console has a USB Type-C port and a USB Type-A port.
-
The back of the console has two Type-A ports, a LAN port, an HDMI out and a power port.
-
Of those USB ports, the USB-C on the front and the two on the back are SuperSpeed-rated, which means they’re capable of speeds up to 10Gbit/s.
-
The base is held in place by a screw vertically and there’s even a handy place to store the screw when not in use inside the base itself.
-
For console aesthetic, you can place a little magnetic screw-hole inside when not using the console vertically.
-
If you attach the base to the console horizontally it simply clamps over the back of the console.
-
The top of the console removes with ease.
-
Unlike the PS4, the PS5 has a Wi-Fi 6 wireless antenna with Bluetooth 5.1. This supports transfer speeds up to 9.6Gbit/s.
-
There are two air vents on the front of the console and the entire back is an exhaust port.
-
To clean and keep the console in good temperatures it has two built-in dust catches that can be vacuumed up.
-
The fan itself is a massive 120mm diameter, 45mm thick, double side intake fan. This baby is made to keep the PS5 running cool.
-
On top of all those cooling solutions, the console also uses liquid metal to help with the cooling process.
-
There is an M/2 interface/PCIe 4.0 expansion slot that looks like it’ll make installing an SSD a breeze.
Watch the full video below. It ends with a somewhat beautiful shot of the entire PS5 console laid out on a table.
