PlayStation trophies are getting a slight overhaul and the update is rolling out tonight.
The major change is that the PlayStation level system is that you’ll now be placed somewhere between level 1 and 999. Your trophy level will be recalculated with the new scoring system.
This new trophy calculation system sees a higher level of points awarded for all trophies, but most importantly the shiny Platinum trophies.
Your PSN ranking will now also be placed into one of four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The first three have their own sub-tiers depending on what level you are and each see’s a different icon placed on your PlayStation profile.
Chasing the prestige ranking of PSN level 999 deems you to be a Platinum PlayStation gamer and you’ll have the shiny icon next to your name to show it.
Check out this graph that PlayStation shared that shows the levels needed for each rank.
The update isn’t live just yet but I’m going to be refreshing in hopes of being placed in Gold tier. It’s like doing my League of Legends ranked placement matches all over again.
