Niantic and The Pokemon Company have shared details for Pokemon GO Tour: Unova—Global, which will allow trainers worldwide, including Australia, to participate in this big event. This is also a free event, so everyone can join in the fun, though a deluxe version will be available for purchase.

This event is inspired by the Unovoa region, first seen in the Pokemon Black and Pokemon White games and then on the Nintendo DS. It’ll feature Pokemon and characters from those games appearing in this event.

The Tour Pass, which is free, will enable limited-time progression tracking during the time of the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova event. Completing tasks will earn you ‘Tour Points,’ which you can use to increase rank and unlock better event bonuses. The ‘Tour Pass Deluxe,’ which is the paid version of the pass, will enable you “upgraded rewards” and faster progression. When you upgrade your pass, you’ll also encounter the Mythical Pokemon Victini immediately. The Deluxe version of the pass will cost $19.99 USD.

What Pokemon are appearing in this event?

Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are making their Pokemon GO debuts during this event and their fusion.

Reshiram, Black Kyurem, Zekrom and White Kyurem will rotate through raids each hour of the event.

How About New Shinies?

Shiny Meloetta, Shiny Deerling, Shiny Maractus, Shiny Sigilyph, and Shiny Bouffalant are all joining the game!

Special Backgrounds

There will be new Special Backgrounds to unlock while taking on the raids:

  • Reshiram can have a background inspired by the Pokémon Black Version
  • Zekrom can have a background inspired by the Pokémon White Version
  • Kyurem encountered in its unfused form after defeating Black Kyurem or White Kyurem in raids could have either background
  • When you fuse a Zekrom or Reshiram that has a Special Background with a Kyurem that has a Special Background of the opposite colour, the fused Black Kyurem or White Kyurem will have its variant background

Pokemon GO Tour: Unova — Global will be live from March 1 at 10 AM local time until March 2 at 6 PM local time. Are you going to be out there, trainers? Let me know.
