The new “PS5 Slim” with an optional attachable disc drive will be available on December 6th, with pre-orders starting today.

Spec-wise, there’s only something to make current owners of PS5 consoles need to upgrade to this new version if they really like the option of an attachable disc drive. As Sony has put it this morning in a press release, “The new form factor addresses the evolving needs of players, providing greater choice and flexibility.”

The new PS5 console has significantly reduced the PS5’s volume by more than 30% thanks to the removable drive and some other minor changes.

One thing to be wary of is that the PS5 Slim may require an internet connection to set up the disc drive, which is ridiculous.

There will be new Console Covers available for the new PS5 models in early 2024, including an all-matte Black colourway and the Deep Earth Collection colours in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver.
