The Round - Valorant Gameplay Preview 2-24 screenshot.png

As part of Riot Games’ 10-year anniversary celebration back in October, they announced a number of new projects they were working on. One of these was a character-based, tactical first-person shooter which was codenamed ‘Project A’. We now have our first gameplay footage of the new game which is now called Valorant.

Valorant looks like the lovechild of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch. There is the tactical, team-based element complete with menus and knives but there are a variety of different agents with different abilities to make up each team. The art style also seems to be between the two games, looking like a little more realistic take on Overwatch. It’s also worth noting that Valorant appears to be it own entity with no ties or characters from League of Legends.

“Tactical shooter meets hypernatural powers. Everyone’s got guns and a unique set of abilities, so how do you beat someone with the speed of wind? Use your own moves to outplay them and beat them to the shot. ValorantT is a game for bold strategists who dare to make the unexpected play, because if it wins, it works” it says on the official Valorant website.

The website also implied that the game will have “128-tick servers, at least 30 frames per second on most min-spec computers (even dating back a decade), 60 to 144 FPS on modern gaming rigs, a global spread of datacenters aimed at <35ms for players in major cities around the world, a netcode we’ve been obsessing over for years, and a commitment to anti-cheat from day one.”

Riot Games have given it a release window of Summer 2020 so we should expect to see it sometime between June and August. You can find more information and social links at PlayValorant.com
