Neon has released the first official trailer for Shelby Oaks. The film is the debut of writer/director Chris Stuckmann, who is most known for his movie reviews on YouTube.
Check out the official trailer below.
A woman’s desperate search for her long-lost sister falls into obsession upon realising that the imaginary demon from their childhood may have been real.
Following a successful crowdfunding process on Kickstarter in 2022, where Stuckmann raised over $1 million for the project, the film premiered at Fantasia International Film Festival in 2024. With an overall positive reception, the film was picked up by Neon.
Indie Wire has reported that Neon injected the film with “an undisclosed amount of supplemental funding,” with the intention to cover several days of re-shoots, and ramp up the “gore and violence.”
Speaking with IndieWire, producer of the film, Aaron Koontz, talked about how the reboots come to be:
“We were sending Neon materials, and they saw the film. They loved it, and we were very happy with what we showed at Fantasia,” Koontz said. “But when Neon read the script and looked through it, they noticed that there were scenes we didn’t film and moments we had to tone down because we couldn’t quite pull them off with the budget that we had. They said, ‘Would you have wanted to do that if you could?’”
There’s currently no Australian release date for Shelby Oaks, however, the film is set to come to U.S theatres on October 3 from Neon.
