It’s been a while since a skateboarding game captivated gamers. A once staple of every generation has been kinda lost for ten years which is when EA’s Skate 3 released. Now there are a handful of skating games in the works and one of those is Skater XL, which has been in early access for some time but is looking to move to full release soon and kickflip onto consoles at the same time.
Dain Hedgpeth, Director at Easy Day Studios, Skater XL’s developer took to the PlayStation Blog recently to explain the game alongside the reveal it’d be coming to PS4’s.
The game is implementing a similar to that of EA’s Skate. You’ll have the controller of the left foot with the left analogue stick and the right foot with the right analogue stick; moving them in certain motions will see you performing tricks, grinds, sides and grabs.
I’ve done a quick Youtube search and watched some gameplay by those playing on in the PC beta and it looks fun. But this is a tool, not an adventure. For those wanting some story or mission structure to string them along it doesn’t seem that will be in the game.
