Compulsion Games shared new details on their upcoming game, South of Midnight, during this morning’s Xbox Developer_Direct. The team also notably announced an April 8 release date.

Expanding more on the story in this latest Developer_Direct, we get to see that Hazel’s story starts when she is preparing for an oncoming hurricane with her mother when a catastrophic flood sends her own home and mother downriver. When she attempts to head downriver to find her house, she meets Catfish, who tells Hazel that she is a ‘Weaver,’ someone who can use magical powers and ” see how our threads connect to form the woven tapestry of our fates.” Hazel becomes pulled between two worlds, meeting new and fantastical creatures based on Southern fairytales, including a giant crocodile and a spider woman of some sort.
