Early this morning, the team of Thunderful Games behind the Steamworld games shared a ‘telegram’ and invitation for fans of the Steamworld franchise to join them next week for a special broadcast.
The invitation states that on January 24th at 4:30 AM AEDT, “know-it-all Brjann Sigurgeirsson will be unveiling what’s next for the series.”
A showcase for the future of the Steamworld games is a big deal, and there have been rumours for some time now that the team at Thunderful Games have been working on more than one game in the series and in different genres. The last game to be announced was SteamWorld Headhunter back in 2021, but little is known about that game.
So far, the team has released five different games in the SteamWorld universe. SteamWorld Tower Defense on the Nintendo DS, SteamWorld Dig on all major consoles, SteamWorld Heist on all major consoles, SteamWorld Dig 2 on all major consoles and SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech on Nintendo Switch, PC and Stadia. The first entry was a tower defence game, the second a metroidvania, and the most recent a card game, so the team has plenty of variety.
Here’s when you can tune into the stream, which I presume will be on the team’s Youtube channel, but the telegraph says to keep eyes on their Twitter.
