Strategy JRP ‘Valkyria Chronicles’ Hits Switch In October

by Dylan Blight

Valkyria Chronicles is coming to the Nintendo Switch outside Japan after all — woo!

Originally announced to be coming to the Nintendo Switch only in Japan, now we know it’s coming to North America and Europe as well on October 16th. This information was announced in a PAX West Sega panel yesterday.

The upcoming Valkyria Chronicles 4 is also coming to the Nintendo Switch and as a bonus, if you buy it on the eStore you’ll automatically receive 25% off the purchase of the first game.

This will be the first time the Valkyria Chronicles has made it onto a ‘handheld’ device since its 2008 original release on the PS3.

Valkyria Chronicles story is set in the fictional content of Europa in an alternate universe in WWII. It’s hard to explain, so here’s the official description:

Set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of the 1930s, Valkyria Chronicles depicts Europa, divided and ruled by two super powers: the Empire and the Federation. The Empire has set its sights on invading the principality Gallia, which shares its borders with the two superpowers, in an attempt to secure an invaluable natural resource, Ragnite. Within this struggle a hero named Welkin, and his fellow soldiers of the Gallian Militia, ‘Squad 7’ are fighting back against the invasion and the Empire’s attempts to unify the continent under its power.

Check out the trailer below and let us know if you’ll be picking up Valkyria Chronicles when it comes to Switch on October 16th.
