Not one to let the announcements just simmer away, Geoff Keighly has announced a four-month plan for bringing the HYPE back into our video gaming news.

“Bringing the world together to celebrate video games from the comfort of home. Summer Game Fest is a season of digital video game events from publishers, select playable content, in-game events, and more.”

Summer Game Fest is more than just Geoff getting some friends together on Skype. It’s a created content feed and event that will end in August with Gamescom’s digital event.

Geoff announced the event on his Twitter early Saturday morning saying the following:

“This year has been a challenge for all of us. For a while, I thought 2020 might be the first time in 25 years we didn’t have a big, magic industry-wide moment. It really bummed me out to see everything fracture. More than ever, this is a year we need a positive, uplifting centre gravity to bring those global community together.

So that’s what we’re going to build. Today I’m proud to announce SUMMER GAME FEST, a 4-month long season of news events from all your favourite game platforms and publishers. It’s all the news you’ve been waiting for, but also in-game events, playable content and demos of select titles, and a bunch of fun surprises.

And trust me: There are some amazing events coming, and I’m working on some plans for a developer showcase with my friends at iam8bit and of course Gamescom: ONL on August 24 as a big season finale.”

Treating this more and more live a Marvel movie event, he’s actually released a ‘Phase 1 Lineup’ which includes big publishers like PlayStation, Xbox, 2K and Activision. Notably, no Nintendo is to be seen.

And then there’s the Warner Bros logo that’s going to get everyone’s hopes up about a Batman game.
