One of Takashi Miike’s most famous horror films, Audition, based upon the 1997 novel by Ryū Murakami, will be getting a remake from Focus Pictures.

Deadline is reporting the news that Christian Tafdrup is apparently working on the remake with his brother Mads Tafdrup. The pair’s previous film was the 2022 horror/thriller Speak No Evil, which itself just got a remake — so I guess these things do go around.

Audition has been a point of discussion since the film’s release, as revenge films with feminist themes, while others have also argued that it’s a misogynistic film that follows in line with how Japanese women are treated in film.

Would you be interested in watching a remake of Audition from the directors of the original Speak No Evil? Let me know in the comment section below.
