The Ascent Is An Action-RPG With Four Player Co-Op & Cyberpunk Setting

Several of the games shown during Inside Xbox’s first big Xbox Series X event Friday morning were from small indie developers. One of these was the eleven person team at Neon Giant working on The Ascent, a top-down action RPG set in a cyberpunk world – with aliens.
The game’s entire aesthetic reminds me of that nightclub city/place in Mass Effect 2. I’m sorry ME2 fans, I can’t recall the name. But it was always this even meld of cyberpunk aesthetic with many aliens running around. The Ascent looks like that to me.
Its story sounds like Dredd or Snowpiercer in many ways. You’re starting on the lower slums of this giant metropolis that stretches into the sky and will have to *ahem* ascend it. The higher you get further you’ll be entering into the richer levels and higher society. In that regard, it reminds me a lot of the film Snowpiercer.
This is a top-down action RPG where you’ll be looting and shooting. Working your way through, what I’d assume is many levels. You can do this solo or with up to three other friends in local or online co-op.
The Ascent is coming to both Xbox Series X and Xbox One. It’ll also use Smart Delivery.
