Melbourne-based developer Powerhoof has announced that its fantastic point-and-click thriller, The Drifter, will be coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on June 22.

In The Drifter, you play as Mick Carter, a drifter who witnesses a murder and then ends up being hunted by mysterious soldiers and coming across more than a few odd paranormal entities.

Powerhoof have said that the game drew inspiration from Stephen King, Michael Crichton, John Carpenter, and Australian grindhouse cinema. Developer Powerhoof describes it as “a classic 2D point and click adventure with the brake-lines cut,” which feels pretty accurate.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will support up to 4K at 120 fps, with players able to switch between traditional point-and-click and twin-stick controls using the Joy-Con 2’s mouse functionality.

It’s been a big year for the game already. The Drifter cleaned up at the 2025 Australian Game Developer Awards, taking home Game of the Year, Excellence in Narrative, Excellence in Visual Art, and Excellence in Sound Design. It also took our top spot in the list of ‘Top 5 Best Australian Games of 2025’
