The Great British Bake Offs Kim-Joy bakes a special cake for Final Fantasy XIV 8th anniversary

What a cake, Moogle!

In celebration of the eighth anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV Online, Square Enix has teamed up with Kim-Joy of Great British Bake Off fame to create a one-of-a-kind birthday cake.
It’s a pretty sweet looking cake. And I mean that both in a literal sense and because it looks pretty sweet on the eyeballs. There’s Cactuars, fat Chocobo’s, and a big Moogle to top it all off.
Here’s how the cake breaks down:
-
Cactuars, Sabotenders and Gigantenders – made into gingerbread cookies and decorated with royal icing, placed on a sandy desert backdrop made from biscuit.
-
Fat Chocobos – made from tangzhong bread, sitting on a watercolour blue and white backdrop representing the sky.
-
Spriggans – made from mochi and filled with a thick custard, clutching their precious gems made from kohakutou-style jelly.
-
Topped with a fondant-covered Moogle
Check out the video below to see how it was created.
Players of FFXIV who, unfortunately, can’t enjoy this cake in person still have an in-game event happening right now. The Rising in-game event has returned, and until September 9th, players who take part will be able to journey to the Steps of Nald in Ul’dah to help out Kipih Jakkya.
Here’s what you can earn by taking part in the event.
-
Red Moon Parasol – This elegant parasol features an image of a flaming moon, which seems strangely familiar.
-
Nymeia Potpourri – Made from the alchemically treated petals of Nymeia lilies, this fragrant bundle of potpourri brings a sense of tranquillity to even the most troubled souls.
