Nintendo has officially announced that a live-action The Legend of Zelda move is in the works with none other than Sony.
No details about the film outside the key creatives involved were revealed by Nintendo today. Still, from Nintendo’s side, Shigeru Miyamoto will produce as he did in The Super Mario Bros. Movie alongside Avi Arad, who is known for his producing work on many Marvel films and recent Spider-Man and Spider-Man adjacent films with Sony.
Wes Ball will direct the film. He is known for his work on The Maze Runner trilogy, and he is also the director of the upcoming Kingdom of The Planet of the Apes.
The film will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., with more than 50% financed by Nintendo. The theatrical distribution of the film will be done worldwide by Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. This means that, yes, you will see the words “Sony” before you watch The Legend of Zelda movie.
