UPDATE 2: 09/06
Thanks to the PlayStation Blog we have been given a new time and date for the PS5 Event and the delay turned out to not be that long at all. In fact, it was only for one week.
You can tune into ‘the future of gaming’ PS5 event this coming Friday, the 12th of June at 6 AM AEST via Youtube and Twitch.
In the updated post, Sid Shuman noted that the stream will unfortunately only stream at 1080p/30fps. This is thanks to the production of this pre-recorded production happening during COVID-19 and the added stress and production values that would be put upon many people, including developers to get the show up to a 4K/60 level.
That’s unfortunate to hear of course, and I hope it doesn’t limit just how ‘next-gen’ the games showcased during the event will appear.
Sid also mentioned making sure to use headphones when watching the event as “ there’s some cool audio work in the show, and it might be harder to appreciate if it’s pumped through your phone or laptop speakers,” which is certainly interesting.
UPDATE 1: 01/06
PlayStation announced on their Twitter that the PS5 event has been delayed until further notice.
— PlayStation (@PlayStation) June 1, 2020
The delay comes in support of the Black Lives Matter movement that is currently on-going in American with support coming from many countries around the world.
Explosion Network supports the many protesters currently trying to make a change for all the Black people in American and around the world.
ORIGINAL STORY: 30/05
Yep. The PS5 reveal event is finally happening.
No need to beat around the bush here:
Friday the 5th of June at 6 AM AEST.
It has been confirmed the event will feature the games you’ll be playing on launch this holiday season on PS5. All of them? We dunno. First-party? We dunno. But it sounds like mix thanks to this quote in the announcement post:
“Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware”
We also have confirmation the DualSense controller will come in black thanks to the short graphic video and poster that announced the event.
The event is a solid length at just over an hour. So strap in for a solid morning of excitement.
I’m personally over-joyed to learn this event is happening the morning I have to go get my wisdom teeth out but feel free to let me know how happy you are in the comments below.
