UPDATE (06/11/24)
Valve has now announced that the Steam Deck will go on sale in Australia on November 19th at 10 AM AEDT.
Consoles will begin shipping at the same time. There was no word on how limited the consoles may or may not be at launch, but if you want one, I’d advise setting a reminder.
ORIGINAL STORY (18/10/24)
At PAX Australia last weekend, we walked onto the show floor and made a b-line for the Steam area. We knew that Valve was going to be at PAX but were unsure what mysteries they would have on show. As it turns out, they were announcing that the Steam Deck would be coming to Australia very soon, and they even had an announcement video play on a TV to everyone lining up in the q-hall.
You can wishlist the Steam Deck now ahead of its release in November. Valve haven’t announced the exact date that the portable gaming device will begin shipping, but after spending long-enough before bringing the handheld to Australia, they’ll hopefully have more than enough units to go around for everyone looking to pick one up.
Surprisingly, the Steam Deck will be debuting in Australia with quite reasonable pricing, as it seems to have skipped any aggressive Australian pricing upselling.
