Highguard is now being shut down, just two months after its launch on January 26.
This news follows its surprise announcement at the end of The Game Awards 2025, where it was given the top spot at the year-end celebration, and is a big highlight for games; then, the team at Wildlight laid off most of its team just two weeks after the game’s launch.
Sharing the news on X, the team at Wildlight said they had “made the decision to shut down Highguard on March 12 permanently.”
“Despite the passion and hard work of our team, we have not been able to build a sustainable player base to support the game long term. Servers will remain online until March 12. We hope you’ll jump in with us one more time to show your support and get those final great matches in while we still can.”
They also announced that the game is getting its final update before it shuts down the servers, which will add a new Warden, a new weapon, account-level progression, and skill trees.
