Universal Pictures seems to have accidentally leaked the title of the upcoming The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel.
@Wario64 on X spotted the title in a press release posted by NBCUniversal sharing news from their ‘Upfront Showcase,’ which initially said:
“An exciting range of films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination were presented, including Megan 2.0, Nobody 2, Bad Guys 2, How to Train Your Dragon, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Black Phone 2, HIM, and The Phoenician Scheme, Super Mario World, Shrek and Minions.
Giving the title of ‘Super Mario World’ to the upcoming, and yet to be officially announced, Mario Bros film sequel.
Interestingly, the updated version of the press release, which you can find now here, has removed the mention of ‘Super Mario World’ as well as ‘Shrek’ and ‘Minions.’
The after-credits scene in the first movie featured a Yoshi egg landing in the world, so the title would make sense.
