Publisher Serenity Forge and developer Studio Meadowflower have revealed Vivarium, a hand-drawn life simulation adventure inspired by classic anime films and series.

Vivarium follows 11-year-old Jenny, a girl living in a tiny town contained within a terrarium. Jenny spends her days tending gardens, chatting with neighbours, cooking meals and exploring her picturesque home, seemingly untouched by the stresses of the outside world. But the peacefulness of all of that doesn’t last forever, as strange events begin to disrupt Jenny’s perfect world.

Check out the reveal trailer for Vivarium below.

You can spend time decorating Jenny’s home, tending to her garden, cooking recipes, or enjoying her growing collection of books and vinyl records. The developers say player choices and conversations will also shape the world around Jenny, influencing characters, environments and the story’s eventual outcome.

Vivarium will be released in 2027 for PC and Xbox.
