Packed from start to finish, the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase started with a bang with back-to-back FPS action in Call of Duty 6 and DOOM: The Dark Ages, before trailers for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, South of Midnight, Indian Jones and The Great Circle, and our first look and gameplay for Perfect Dark.
Here are all the trailers and the news from the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Starting things off with a bang was a cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which has moved the timeline to the 90s’ following Cold War. More details are coming in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, coming directly after the Xbox Showcase.
Phil Spencer started the show by confirming that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available in Game Pass Day 1 and will be released and beta tested simultaneously on all consoles.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on October 25 2024 for Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
DOOM: The Dark Ages
In this prequel to DOOM (2016), we’ll apparently “learn the origin of the Slayer’s rage.” And it looks like the Slayer is going medieval on their ass with a shield and mace alongside his typical big guns.
Doom: The Dark Ages is coming to Xbox and PC in 2025, with a release on Game Pass on day one.
State of Decay 3
Here’s the trailer for State of Decay 3’s reveal, which offers a hopeful outlook on the zombie apocalypse.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard
The first trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, since its name change, focuses on the companions you’ll be meeting recurring during the game, and they are:
- Harding: The Scout
- Neve: The Detective
- Emmrich: The Necromancer
- Taash: The Dragon Hunter
- Davrin: The Warden
- Bellara: The Veil Jumper
- Lucanis: The Mage Killer
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to release in 2024, and a gameplay reveal is coming on June 11.
Starfield – Shattered Space
You’ll be exploring House Va’ruun territory in the first major expansion for Starfield. Plus, new content is dropping tonight in Starfield with official mod support, a new quest to introduce the Trackers Alliance, and more.
The Shattered Space expansion arrived later in 2024.
Fallout 76 – Skyline Valley
In the newest expansion for Fallout 76, you’ll travel south to Skyline Valley and seek out Vault 63. You’ll also be having the chance to play as Ghoul in 2025.
The Skyline Valley releases on June 12.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
This is a very unique look turn-based RPG with a surrealist art style.

South of Midnight
This new gameplay trailer for South of Midnight shows Hazel, a catfish friend, and a massive crocodile.

World of Warcraft – The War Within
The tenth World of Warcraft expansion is revealed and will launch in just a couple of months.
The War Within will launch on August 26.

Sea of Thieves
Here’s a look at Sea of Thieves Season 13, which arrives on July 25.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
One of two games with soul-inspired combat, Flintlock continues to look very cool in its latest trailer.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will release on July 18 for Xbox and PC and you can play it day one on Game Pass.
Age of Mythology: Retold
Following in the footsteps of the beloved Age of Mythology (2002), here’s a new entry into the Age of Mythology games.
Age of Mythology: Retold will be released on September 4 on PC and Xbox consoles at the same time, and it’ll be available on Game Pass on day one.
Perfect Dark
Our first look at Perfect Dark wasn’t just a cinematic trailer but a gameplay trailer showing Agent Dark realizing her mission is more than what it seems.

Diablo IV: Vessell of Hatred
A cinematic trailer for the next chapter of Diablo IV introduces the Spiritborn.
Diablo IV: Vessell of Hatred will be available on October 8.
Fable
A new trailer for Fable introduces another British comedian, this time Matt King as Humphry, who was or is a hero.
Fable is set to release in 2025 on Xbox and PC, and you can play it day one on Game Pass.
FragPunk
At first a new hero-shooter can seem boring, but the second you add cards that can change up the game between rounds it’s something unique and I want to learn more about FragPunk.
FragPunk is coming to Xbox and PC in 2025.
Winter Burrow
A survival game where you play as a little mouse, creating a burrow to survive in winter.

Mixtape
The follow-up to The Artful Escape, from Australian developer Beethoven & Dinosaur, is another music-heavy narrative adventure, this time with skateboarding.
Mixtape will be released on Xbox and PC in 2025. You can also play the game on day one on Game Pass.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
The newest entry in the Flight-Sim series is adding all new features like commercial flights, racing, cargo jobs and more.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is set to release on November 19 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. You can also play it on day one on Game Pass.
The Elder Scrolls Online – The Gold Road
In celebration of ten years of The Elder Scrolls Online all DLC will be free for some time, and there’s the brand new expansion, The Gold Road avaliable now.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Max Caulfield is back in a sequel to the original Life is Strange game.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure will be released on October 29 for Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch.
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle
A longer look at Indiana Jones and The Great Circle here is full of the vibes of an Indy game, but not much new gameplay is seen here.

Mecha Break
Here’s a reveal for a new multiplayer mech game with customization choices and more to own your mech.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
The second souls-inspired game in the Xbox showcase featured a dynasty setting and a character that’s inflicted with something.

Avowed
Here’s a new trailer for Avowed, which confirms that it’s coming at some point this year.
Play it day one on Game Pass when Avowed releases for Xbox consoles and PC.
Atomfall
This looks like an alternate history with some nuclear-warfare/real-world elements playing out with some mutant creatures and more, and the game comes from Rebellion, who worked on Sniper Elite previously.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Our first gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows shows the game’s protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, and how their different gameplay styles will complement each other.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on November 15. A full gameplay demo will be shown during tomorrow’s Ubisoft Forward.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl
The latest trailer for Heart of Chernobyl showcases the many different environments and guns you’ll see in the game. Plus, it was all with the Ukrainian voiceover.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be released on September 5 on Xbox and PC, and you can play it on Game Pass.
Xbox Consoles
There are three new Xbox Series X|S consoles on the way. A 1TB Series S in Robot White, an all-digital Xbox Series X, and a 2TB Xbox Series X Special Edition in Galaxy Black.
Gears of War: E-Day
The big “one more thing” for the Xbox Games Showcase was a Gears prequel titled Gears of War: E-Day, which will see a younger Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago returning home to fight the Locust Horde.
