Xbox has introduced their new ‘enforcement strike system’ this morning, letting players see how their actions can cumulate into a ban on their account. Xbox hopes this new system will help improve the amount of harassment and bullying online.
Players will now be able to view the strikes against their account by heading to this page and signing in with their Microsoft account. Players will receive a strike against them for every enforcement of inappropriate activity. A strike will stay on a user’s account for six months. Each of these strikes will also lead to a suspension from Xbox’s social features, though the length of this varies depending on what that player did to get the strike.
Xbox clarifies in the blog post announcing this new system that although players can lose access to social and online functions with strikes on their account, they won’t lose access to single-player games or their purchases. They said they reserve the right to permanently suspend an account upon the most serious of violations, including illegal activity.
