Earlier in the week news begun circulating that the Xbox Series X controllers had landed in the hands of consumer early. No, it wasn’t Wallmart Canada’s fault. What was most interesting however was the ‘Xbox Series S’ being listed on the side of the controllers packaging. Although the Series S has been rumoured for some time — a cheaper version of the Series X — it has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft.

Today, Tom Warren from The Verge confirmed on Twitter that yes, the controllers were indeed real and they most definitely weren’t supposed to be sold.

On Twitter Warren wrote “Xbox Series X may launch on November 6th. A tipster tells me boxes of the new controllers have a do not open date of November 6th on them.”

Xbox confirmed that they plan to release the Xbox Series X during November, but they are yet to announce an official release date or price for their next-gen console.
