Imprint Television has announced its next addition to its catalogue for September with Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom Trilogy, bringing the Danish horror series to physical media in both Limited Edition 4K UHD and Special Edition Blu-ray releases.
The release marks several firsts for the label, including Imprint Television’s first foreign-language title and its first 4K UHD television release.
Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom Trilogy (1994–2022)
Set within the neurosurgical ward of Copenhagen’s mysterious Kingdom Hospital, Lars von Trier’s surreal horror saga blends supernatural terror, dark comedy and absurdist satire across three groundbreaking television series.
Known as Riget in its native Denmark, the series was heavily inspired by David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and quickly gained a devoted following for its unsettling atmosphere, eccentric characters and unforgettable imagery.
The trilogy stars Søren Pilmark, Ghita Nørby, Birgitte Raaberg, Peter Mygind, Udo Kier, with guest appearances from Stellan Skarsgård, Alexander Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, and Lars von Trier himself.
The original 16mm camera negatives have been newly scanned in 3K and upscaled to 4K by von Trier’s production company Zentropa, with authoring and encoding handled by Fidelity In Motion.

Limited Edition 4K UHD Hardbox
The premium edition includes:
- 7-disc 4K UHD presentation of all three series
- Limited Edition Hardbox
- 60-page Hardcover Episode Guide
- First-ever 4K UHD release worldwide
The 4K UHD edition is strictly limited to 1,500 copies.
