Returning series for fans of mysteries and docu-series that examine life are just part of what’s coming to ACM+, Acorn TV, and HIDIVE in July 2025.

The intriguing new series on AMC+ in July, The Furry Detectives: Unmasking a Monster, will delve into the story of internet sleuths investigating conspiracy theories of animal abuse behind the scenes of the Furry community. Elsewhere, the horror series NOS4A2 is set to debut as a dual exclusive on AMC+ and Shudder in July, and there are some returning series for fans, including The Madame Blanc Mysteries, as well as the simulcast of anime Call of the Night on HIDIVE.

JULY 2

The Madame Blanc Mysteries [Acorn TV Original Series]

Season four returns to the wonderful world of Sainte Victoire, packed with unusual antiques and objéts d’art, murder, mystery, sunshine and laughter. Sally Lindsay returns as Jean White, who is navigating a fledgling romance with her sidekick Dom Hayes, played by Steve Edge (Starlings, Murder They Hope, Maxine). Co-writer Sue Vincent (Mount Pleasant, Shameless) stars as mechanic Gloria Beaushaw, while Robin Askwith (Strike, Benidorm) and Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses, Still Open All Hours, The Green Green Grass)reprise their roles as eccentric married couple Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James, and Alex Gaumond (Derry Girls, My Dinner With Hervé, Death In Paradise) is back as Chief of Police André Caron. Tony Robinson (Blackadder, Time Team) and Paul Chuckle (Elliott) complete the cast as Dom’s Uncle Patrick, a petty thief turned pub landlord, and Trevor, Gloria’s dad.

JULY 4

Call of the Night – Season 2 [HIDIVE Simulcast Premiere]

Summer marks the return of human/vampire love with the highly anticipated second season of Call of the Night, the acclaimed supernatural romance drama set to premiere on July 4 exclusively on HIDIVE. Ko overcomes his confusion about becoming a vampire and decides to “like” Nazuna, while Nazuna resolves to make Ko “fall in love” with her. Without understanding what “love” even is, the two of them spend their nights together in a frenzy. Meanwhile, Detective Uguisu Anko is closing in with her plot to kill vampires, not just Nazuna. A vampire’s weakness is “anything they were attached to when they were human” and so they all try to get rid of this weakness before it’s too late. But, Nazuna has no memory of her human life. What is Nazuna’s hidden past? Why did Anko start killing vampires? And what is the “secret” that Nazuna and Anko share? For Ko, Nazuna, Anko, a fun “late night” doesn’t end here… a new “night begins! Call of the Night Season 2 is directed by Tomoyuki Itamura along with writing by Michiko Yokote, character design by Haruka Sagaw and production by Liden Films.

The Furry Detectives: Unmasking A Monster [AMC+ Exclusive Series]

A riveting true crime docu-series, The Furry Detectives: Unmasking A Monster unpacks the 2018 event known in the Furry community as the “Furry Zoosadist Leaks, which exposed a horrifying conspiracy of animal abuse lurking beneath the Fandom’s playful exterior. The series follows the pack of dedicated vigilantes who teamed up to bring down the monsters behind the masks. Navigating the line between amateur sleuthing and official police investigation, the Furry Detectives exposed a ring of animal abusers, fought for victims, and defended their community from the evil within.

NOS4A2 [AMC+ Exclusive Series]

Vic McQueen (Ashley Cummings, Citadel) is a young, working-class artist who discovers she has a supernatural ability to track the seemingly immortal Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto, American Horror Story). Manx feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – a twisted Christmas Village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic must strive to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

Kostas [Acorn TV & AMC+ Premiere]

Athens Homicide Chief Kostas Charistos interrupts his vacation to investigate the discovery of a body after an earthquake on the Greek island where he was staying with his wife, daughter and her boyfriend. But he also has to deal with the murder of a young Albanian couple.  

Summertide [Acorn TV & AMC+ Premiere]

After losing his beloved wife Julia (Amalia Uys) to tragedy, renowned marine biologist Martin Field (Frank Rautenbach) leaves his old life behind and moves his rebellious teenage son and daughter to his childhood home in Simon’s Town to begin again. With Julia’s memory as his driving force, he pours his heart into setting up a conservation trust to protect the marine life along the False Bay coast. Will he find calm in these waters or does his past hide painful secrets beneath the surface?
