Gearbox Software’s President Randy Pitchford announced on X overnight that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 will launch on October 3, which isn’t too long after the September 12 release date for other platforms.
Diving into the comments section on the video he shared above, Randy seems to confirm the game will be a download, even for physical copies, saying, “There will be a download, even for physical copies.” And when asked if the game will support ‘mouse mode’ for the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons, he said ‘yes.’ Which was also his answer to being asked if the game would enable 4-player local adhoc multiplayer.

When asked if the game would run at 60fps or not on Nintendo Switch 2, he responded with:
“It was important to us to not cut anything and to support cross play with other platforms. So, no. It’ll be mostly around 30 fps, with some dips in some intense moments heavy combats or if hosting a multiplayer game in handheld mode, etc.”
