Devolver Digital snuck a little game onto their website following this morning’s Devolver Direct 2024.
The game is called ‘Virtual Volvy E-Pet,’ and it’s a Tamagotchi-like, but one in which your Volvy will die. Unless you can commit to serving his ever-shitting needs 24/7, which you obviously can’t.
As the description of the game states:
“In 1996, Devolver Digital released Pocket Volvy: a virtual pet starring its beloved big-handed mascot.
But a fatal software error meant Volvy would not stop crapping, and would eventually die from the relentless build-up of his own stinking effluence.
At great expense, every Pocket Volvy was recalled and destroyed. But earlier this year, elite net surfers discovered the software hidden deep in the dark web—which has now been emulated here for your ‘pleasure’.
This is the first time since 1996 that Pocket Volvy, long thought lost, has been playable. How long can you keep Volvy alive? Five minutes? An hour? Set the world record? Enjoy!”
It’s free to download, but I suggest you don’t, as it’ll just frustrate you—if you realise they’re not exaggerating. This guy poops every second.
Let me know if you can get him to survive longer than 10 minutes, as that’s a lot at the moment.
